It's said that breakfast is the most important meal of the day, especially for growing children. However, many parents in the US settle for serving their children sugary cereal, due to it's convenience and appeal to kids.
The New York Times sought out to see what children all around the world eat and I can guarantee you that most of these meals are a lot more filling and a lot less processed than what we serve a majority of children here in the United States. You'll be shocked once you see the comparisons.

Dogo Gunce Gursoy - 8 years old [Istanbul]


Includes: Honey and clotted cream called kaymak on toasted bread; green and black olives; fried eggs with a spicy sausage called sucuk; butter; hard-boiled eggs; thick grape syrup (pekmez) with tahini on top; an assortment of sheep-, goat- and cow-milk cheeses; quince and blackberry jams; pastries and bread; tomatoes, cucumbers, white radishes and other fresh vegetables; a paste made of grilled red peppers (kahvaltilik biber salcasi); hazelnut-flavored halvah; milk; and orange juice.
