If you managed to understand The Matrix the first time around, you might still need to go back and watch the movie to pick up on a few more things.
1. The Wachowski siblings had no directing experience before this film.

Warner Brothers studios weren't confident in Lana and Andy Wachowski's directing abilities, but they proved themselves when they wrote and directed the movie Bound.

This famous shot was created with 120 individual digital still cameras and two film cameras.

The Wachowski siblings originally came up with the idea for The Matrix as a comic book.
9. The movie was shot in Sydney, Australia.

Even though the city in the movie was never given a name, all interior and exterior shots were filmed in Sydney.
10. Russell Crowe, Sean Connery and Samuel L. Jackson could've played Morpheus.

Ultimately the role went to Laurence Fishburne.
11. Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, and Tom Cruise turned down the role of Neo.
