If you're reading this at 3 a.m. and the Melatonin just isn't working, you know the deal.
1. Having to listen to all of your friends who must have gotten their psych PhD overnight tell you what works for them.

Oh really? You make yourself totally relaxed? Ah, see, I've been taking adrenaline shots right before bed...that must be where I went wrong...
2. Thinking the clock will provide you some solace...but nope.

How could it be five a.m.!? I have to be awake in two hours!
3. When you try to force yourself to be productive and get some work done since...let's face it...you won't sleep anyway, but you're too tired to get real things done.

4. So usually that lack of productivity ends up actually carrying over to the time when you are REALLY supposed to be working.

5. When you start taking sleeping pills and start doing all sorts of weird half-asleep nonsense, like online shopping.

Just remember, you're not alone—sleep deprivation affects a LOT of people (48% of Americans have reported insomnia, at some point or another) and there are many people you can turn to.
