Animals brought up in good care normally tend to serve as great pets. But sometimes, the best pets are the ones rescued from terrible circumstances. Such is the case with photographer Cameron Bloom's family and their pet magpie, Penguin.
In 2013, one of Bloom's three sons, Noah, discovered the three-week-old bird while on a walk near their house in Sydney, Australia. Injured and abandoned by her mother, she was in desperate need of saving. After taking her in, the Blooms nurtured her back to health, treating her like one of their own.
Since then, Penguin has become an integral member of the family, displaying her love and affection for her rescuers liberally. Now, there's practically not a single family photo that she's not in.
Shortly after rescuing Penguin, Bloom's wife, Sam, tragically broke her back.

During her recovery, the grateful and affectionate magpie was a huge encouragement to her spirits, never leaving her side.

"There was this amazing story of love and loss...Penguin...was broken and [had] lost her family..." says father, Cameron.

Penguin's affection clearly knows no bounds.

And during Sam's recovery, she was one of her most fervent supporters.

But as the one who originally saved her from potential death, Noah and Penguin have a special bond.

The mutual love between her and the Bloom family is beyond evident, in every picture.

And in the family's minds, she's just another Bloom.

Wherever she is, she can always be found with (or on) one of them.

Except for when she's chowing down.

She loves helping the three boys with their homework...

And even assists Cameron and Sam with their taxes.

Clearly, she's very fond of perching on the family.

She even helps them settle disagreements sometimes.

On rainy days, she loves nothing more than to just spend time with any one of them.

She's indifferent as to where or with who...

Just as long as it involves laying back and unwinding together.

Really though, it's almost impossible to get a picture of her away from the three boys.

Unless of course, she's in need of some fresh air and a nap.

But practically every fulfilling minute of every great day...

Penguin just wants to show her love and appreciation for the family that gave her new life.
