Bestial Spirits: Loners is a series created by UK-based artist Mat Miller. He creates them using pencils, fine pens, watercolors and later adds digital touches. Â Each creature in the series has its own unique backstory created by Miller.

Miller created Smudge as a cat spirit. She's inspired by his family cat, Scamp. Her character is a skilled, tactful hunter who advises four leaders within the fantasy world's clan.Â

Glato is a self-sustaining member of Miller's clan and is a beetle spirit who feasts on plants that others can't eat.Â
