Scientists in the Netherlands are working on a plastic that could be used to make 3D-printed teeth.

In a study in the journal Advanced Functional Materials, researchers from the University of Groningen say that they've developed a plastic that could help kill bacteria.

The plastic contains quaternary ammonium salts, which are often used as disinfectants.

In a study, the plastic killed 99 percent of Streptococcus mutans bacteria in a saliva mixture in the lab. The researchers are hoping to use the material for both dentures and braces.
