If You Sleep on Your Right Side, You Need to Stop Straight Away. Here Are the Reasons Why
One doctor's theories on proper sleeping technique and how it helps with digestion. Please note that this is not necessarily proven medical fact. Always consult a doctor if you have any questions.
Dr. John Douillard tells us his theories on how to get the best, most health-conscious sleep possible.

As the above picture indicates, sleeping on your left side helps your stomach to contain its gastric juices. Sleeping on your right side can cause the gastric juices and acids to drain into your esophagus–this is a possible explanation for acid reflux and heartburn. It can also cause overly-rapid digestion in the stomach, which may prevent food from digesting properly. But if you sleep on your left side, the stomach has time to digest incrementally and thoroughly.

Most of the lymphatic system is located on the left side of your body. Douillard suggests sleeping on your left side will allow glucose, proteins, and other important elements to drain to your lymphatic system faster. This will supposedly benefit your heart and spleen.
