It's Not Hard to See Why This Dog Keeps One Toy Safe While Destroying the Rest

Gee...I wonder why.

Meet Luca the Alaskan Malamute, and her favorite stuffed animal.

Karissa Lerch, of Durham, North Carolina, had always wanted a dog, but she couldn’t afford one while in college. So naturally, she settled for the next best alternative - a plush toy.

However, a few years later Lerch graduated, got Luca and passed down her plush friend to her. Immediately, the two became best buds.

Chew toys, shoes, other plush toys? She annihilates them all. But her little puppy compadre? Not a scratch.
In fact, in the last year and a half, it's the only toy she hasn't completely torn to shreds.
And it doesn't require much deep thinking to figure out why. Her longtime plush pal is literally a stuffed animal version of her.

Talk about narcissism! Jeeze Luca, control your ego. You don't see the rest of us walking around with plush toy versions of ourselves do you? DO YOU?!

Luca also has yet to figure out why her saliva-stained BFF has stayed the same size for almost two years while she's been growing at an alarming rate.

But that has absolutely no effect on their relationship - Luca only cares about the heart. As long as mini Luca is committed to growing emotionally, her growth disabilities don't matter to Luca.

Suffice it to say, I think we could all learn a lot from these two: someone needs to start a company that makes plush toy versions of people if they haven't already.
