9 Moments That Are Weird To Us, But Normal to Shia LaBeouf
From performance art to drunken shenanigans, Shia LaBeouf proves he's truly an international treasure.
1. Patriotism
What's better than going on a family vacation to Mt. Rushmore? Going on a family vacation to Mt. Rushmore and bumping into a seemingly drunk Shia LaBeouf screaming "America!"
According to some reports, LaBeouf even asked an elderly woman out on a date after she asked him to calm down. Classic Shia.
2. #TOUCHMYSOUL
In this art piece, Shia, Nastja Ronkko and Luke Turner sat in a gallery space and answered calls from fans. They asked each person to "touch their souls" and got some pretty interesting responses.
Probably one of the most touching moments was when a mother called in to let her disabled son talk to the Transformers star.
3. Actual Cannibal Shia LaBeouf
In 2012, Rob Cantor released a song to his SoundCloud about an encounter with a flesh-hungry Shia LaBeouf. It quickly went viral, becoming a meme.
Two years later, Cantor released an update version of the song, this time as a theatrical production with The Gay Men's Chorus of Los Angeles, The West Los Angeles Children's Choir and a cameo from LaBeouf himself.
4. #FOLLOWMYHEART

Have you ever wondered what Shia's heart rate is? Neither have we, but Shia was gracious enough to set up a website with a live stream of his heartbeat.
This six-day performance art piece was a part of 2015's SXSW festival. You can find a recap of what you missed here.
5. 'Cabaret' Arrest
Getting drunk on double whisky, chasing a homeless man down Times Square and Alan Cumming's leather pants are all things that only Shia LaBeouf can get into that'll lead to a 2014 arrest.
It's definitely a one-of-a-kind story you need to see to believe.
6. #ALLMYMOVIES

In November 2015, Shia did another performance piece in which he sat in a New York City movie theater for three consecutive days and watched all of his films in reverse-chronological order. LaBeouf and his two collaborators even set up a live feed so fans could watch at home.
The piece was free and open to anyone that wanted to come and watch the films with the star. It was pretty much one big binge-watching party that everyone was invited to.
7. #ELEVATE

In this recent piece of performance art, LaBeouf and his artistic partners travel to Oxford University and give talks to anyone that rides the elevator with them. At one point, a fan even asked LaBeouf to slap him in the face - which he did
The team accomplished their goal of creating moments with others that were warm and connected.
8. #IAMSORRY
In February of 2014, Shia LaBeouf staged a piece of performance art in which he sat in an empty room silently, crying while wearing a paper bag that said "I am not famous anymore." He allowed the public to come in and use props from his movies to interact with the actor.
While many critics claim that this was his cry for attention, one journalist that experienced this time with Shia proved this to be a moment in which two people connected.
9. #INTRODUCTIONS
In #INTRODUCTIONS, Shia LaBeouf gives a motivational speech through a series of different monologues. This 2015 became the basis for the wildly popular "Just Do It" meme.
Highlights of the short film include Shia LaBeouf talking about gagging while brushing his teeth, listing different colors and meditating with his back turned to the camera.
