19 High School Experiences In Movies & TV That Just Aren't Real Life
From keg parties to epic makeovers, these are the crazy things that happen in high school movies/TV shows, but don't actually happen in real life - for better or for worse!
1. Coming to high school dressed in designer clothes, mini skirts and high heels

Most high schoolers are too sleep deprived to put that much effort into their daily wardrobe. Plus, there's dress code and all.
2. Randomly breaking out into song and choreographed dance

While I wish I was a Wildcat and attended East High (Troy Bolton and I are soul mates, did ya know?), I'm sad to say that song and dance does not just randomly break out during passing periods - unless you're just asking for detention.
3. Having an intense, love-at-first sight connection with another student you've never talked to

Sure, we all had crushes in high school, but never did it resemble the way Bella and Edward laid eyes on each other the first moment they "met. 'Cause TBH, that's just kinda creepy.
4. Everyone in class throws papers and notebooks when school's out for the summer

Everyone just makes a beehive to GTFO.
5. No one is worried about money, like at all

They'll drop money on designer clothes, room service with their BFFs, fancy parties, etc.
6. Having an inappropriate relationship with your hot English teacher

It's just creepy on so many levels.
7. Who you sit with at lunch determines your social life

Yeah, there's cliques in high school, but no one really cares where or who you sit with at lunch, since they're focused on themselves anyway.
8. There will be an epic food fight

If anyone started a food fight, it would be stopped immediately and their ass would be dragged to the principal ASAP to figure out suspension.
9. Everyone goes to epic house parties where everyone is drinking and dancing

In the movies, everyone just so happens to be there - not just your best buds, but random people you don't hang out with, like the "stoners" the "nerds" the "jocks," etc. Then there's always that goodie-two-shoes who lets loose and people see that she has a wild side! Who would have thought?
10. Sometimes, there's fights that break out at these parties...

11. ...and/or randos getting it on in the upstairs bedrooms

12. You're underage, but are magically able to go to bar and order a drink with your friends

In the bartender's defense, most actors/actresses cast in high school TV shows look like they're in their 20s or 30s, so.
13. You'll get a makeover, suddenly become super popular and have all the boys flocking to you

I tried dressing better, cutting my hair, plucking my weird body hairs and sadly I didn't rise to queen bee status. *Sigh* To read about the most iconic, movie makeovers, head over here.
14. The bad boy falls in love with the goodie-two-shoes and takes her to prom while everyone stares

15. Surprise! The popular high school jock is actually really deep

Thanks Chad Michael Murray for ruining my expectations of high school boys.
16. Having a guy change you because he "like likes" you

A guy won't suddenly decide that you could be the one for them if they just changed one thing about you - which is oftentimes, appearance. But then they realize they actually do love you for who you are, so what was even the point of that?
17. You'll be caught in an epic love triangle, torn between two gorgeous guys completely different from one another

They might also be vampires.
18. Prom queen is a huge deal

Some schools don't even allow prom queens anymore, and those schools that do don't make it a big deal at all - there's no epic ceremony, speeches or anything like that.
19. Everyone has a date to prom

NOPE, some of us (ahem, me) just went with a whole bunch of girlfriends just for funzies. Who needs boys/dates anyway?
