This amazing exhibit was made with a goal in mind. Artist Henrique Oliveira wanted to create an experience. He took nature and reused it in a way so people could expeiernce what it might be like to explore the inside of a giant tree.
Oliveira said, “It’s wood that has been taken from nature, has been cut down into geometric structures, and they have been used by society and discharged. And I take it back and I rebuild forms there again, creating true nature forms. It’s bringing back the tree aspects to the material. It’s not just an object, it’s an experience.”
Henrique Oliveira, a Brazilian artist created a giant root-like tunnel for people to explore.

The first step was creating a metal framework.

And from there, he went on to use planks of plywood he found throughout the city.

The result is a multicolored arrangement of different kinds of wood which make up a magnificent rootlike structure.

Oliveira named his project, Transarquitetonica, and it is on display at the Museu de Arte Contemporanea da Universidade in San Paulo through November 2014.
