Proof That American Horror Story Season 6 Is Related To The First Season
Mind. Blown.
There's been a lot of buzz around "American Horror Story"'s upcoming sixth season. Pictures have been making their way around the Internet, causing fans to speculate the new theme. One particular theory that's been freaking everyone TF out is just how closely this season could be connected to season one—which was arguably the show's best season.
Executive producer Ryan Murphy previously revealed all seasons in the anthology series are connected. We've seen physical crossovers, like when Gabourey Sidibe's season three character visited the Countess' hotel last season, and when Lily Rabe's season two character made her way to season four's "Freak Show."
New exclusive on-set photos obtained by TMZ could be a huge clue staring us in the face, though. Let's examine closely.
In the pictures, we see the word "CROATOAN" carved into the tree of what appears to be a village. This remains one of the spookiest tales in American history—117 colonists disappeared in Roanoke in 1590. Theories about the disappearance range from sudden illness to a mass killing. When governor John White returned to his colony three years after the Anglo-Spanish war, all he found were the bones of one colonist and the word "Croatoan" carved in the tree.
Ryan Murphy told Bloody Disgusting that the sixth season will take place both in the past and present, though modern day scenes will be more prevalent. Judging from these pictures, Roanoke colony seems like it will take place in flashbacks.
The Roanoke colony storyline isn't totally out of left field. In season one episode 11, "Birth," Tate (Evan Peters) and Violet (Taissa Farmiga) learn about the Roanoke Colony's successful exorcism that took place in 1590. Medium Billie Dean (Sarah Paulson) says that the settlers died and haunted the local Native American tribe called the Croatoans. Violet attempted to use the spell on Chad (Zachary Quinto) to cast his spirit away (which failed).

So, perhaps we'll be getting American Horror Story: The Lost Colony? We'll have to wait to find out, and enjoy the spooky teasers for now.
Returning cast members include Lady Gaga, Evan Peters, Angela Bassett, Matt Bomer, Leslie Jordan and Cheyenne Jackson.
