This guy just spent about $9,000 to build a home...OUT OF A BUS!

Hank Butitta, an architecture graduate student, was fed up with paying for expensive housing.

So, he did the unthinkable and purchased an old school bus for only $3,000!

"This project was a way to show how building a small structure with simple detailing can be more valuable than drawing a complex project that is theoretical and poorly understood."

After purchasing it, he renovated the bus, which cost around $6,000

"The bus was purchased for $3,000 on Craigslist and has had about $6,000 of improvements. It's not pocket change, but it's less than a down payment on a home."

Hank then designed beds that would make the most of his narrow space.

His new home includes two beds, a small kitchen, a bathroom, and the hardwood floors are actually old gymnasium floors!

Did we mention that it features a really cool "roof deck", too?

This has to be the coolest seat in the house!

And what's even better is that the bus is still fully functional! Here's a view of the driver's seat!
